A zine of diverse culture and languages. Siguro dahil hindi ako masyadong gumagamit ng English medium kaya hindi ako pamilyar sa salitang "scripturient" that means "the urge to write" explained by one of the author. Great choice of title, truly reflects on the writers and their pieces. They have also shared that the pieces may have different medium used but they share the same radiance like the multi-cultural people of SOX.
John Lenard is a promising fiction writer and poet. I find my young writing voice in his pieces that drives around death and misery. His short fiction has the very catchy titles na di mo paghihinayangang basahin. Very heartfelt storytelling. The poem "ambon" can be a good piece to perform at stage as a spoken word poetry piece or in poetry readings.
The poems of Jon Nicolo depicts the creative use of languages. He artistically composed the pieces using multiple mediums and harmonized them. I became very interested and hope that I can read more of his poetry in the future.
Kee Marie, as the title of your piece says, padayon. I commend how she used her languages to build a voice, a lovely initiative to lift local SOX literature with these kind of mediums.
The magnificent stitching of lines and words into a short yet fleshy piece of Mr. Ruel is a work of art worth the value.
Paternal love is merely talked about and his piece gave me chills while reading. Indeed, they are one of the choices. Unta choice na importante ug palanggaon, dili choice na pabadlungan.
Orland's bata really a piece filled with the exact emotions you should feel while reading.
Unfortunate circumstances that we can do nothing but cry.
One of my favorite poems in this zine is Al-omar's "Ina Ko," unlike Aron's, maternal love is cliché to many readers but writing about it is I believe that--like gold, should be treasured. These pieces reminds us of how should we behave and act upon our mother and generally--parents' needs especially when we are able and capable enough nang walang pag-aalinlangan at pagpilit.
Over-all, this zine is worth the read at mainam basahin kung nais n'yong mas makilala at maintindihan ang lokal na literatura ng SOX.
