Hearts In War
Brittle dried autumn leaves,
Slowly falling unto me.
Surrounded by this heartless thieves--
Promise, I will always guard thee.
Guard your heart
From every lies.
Pull that dart
And clear your eyes.
Dry those tears,
Show up your sweet smile.
Drop your fears,
Walk with me in this long aisle.
Start with a step,
One by one.
The heartaches you kept--
Let it all be done.
End the struggle,
From your hurtful past.
Shine like marble,
Washed from dust.
Uncover your hidden love,
Give me a chance, this is true.
Be that simple white dove--
Break those chains that binds you.
You try not to love again,
You chose to stand alone.
If you’re tired from all this pain--
Let me be your strongest bone.
Just hold my hand,
I’ll hold you tight.
Together, we will stand
In this endless fight.
Hearts in war, broken--
Healed, restored, mended.
With this simple old pen,
I wrote our story--never ended.
